Petrol Prices Expected to Drop Once Again From September 16

On September 15, the government will likely reduce the price of petrol and diesel in its fourth consecutive weekly review, giving further relief for Pakistanis.

According to a report published by a local journal, unless the government decides to raise the petroleum levy, the price of key petroleum products, including as petrol and high-speed diesel, is predicted to drop by around Rs10 per litre starting on September 15.

The past several weeks have seen a $5 per barrel decline in the price of oil globally. With current tax rates and final currency values, a price reduction of around Rs. 10–11 per liter is expected in Pakistan. To make the most on the lower international prices and close a Rs100 billion income gap for the first two months of the fiscal year, the government could increase the petroleum charge by Rs5 per liter.

The average worldwide price of petrol dropped from around $81 to less than $76 per barrel, according to officials, while the average price of diesel reduced from $88.5 to approximately $83 per barrel. The exchange rate has not changed while the import charges for petrol and diesel remain at $8.5 and $5 per barrel, respectively.
