One of the major Islamic holidays in Pakistan, Eid ul-Fitr, is expected to fall on April 11, 2024, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department's estimate. Based on the assumption that Ramadan begins on March 12 and that there would be a 30-day fast before Eid ul-Fitr, this prediction has been made. The prediction states that the Shawwal moon will be visible on April 10, which coincides with when Eid festivities are supposed to begin.
It is important, while that Islamic holidays, such as Eid ul-Fitr, are subject to alteration in accordance with lunar sightings. On April 10, 2024, the Ruet Hilal committee—which is in charge of moon sighting—will formally declare the Eid holidays. This highlights the need of using conventional moon sighting techniques rather than only depending on weather predictions to time religious rituals.
A holiday calendar for Eid ul-Fitr has already been released by the Cabinet Division, showing off days from April 10 to April 12. While this corresponds with the anticipated dates, it is still pending the official announcement of the moon sighting.
