PIA Reduces Ticket Price for Umrah Pilgrims

With Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), pilgrims conducting the Umrah pilgrimage from major Pakistani cities including Lahore, Islamabad, Sialkot, Peshawar, Multan, and Faisalabad to Jeddah may now get tickets for as little as Rs6,000 less.

Passengers from Quetta anud Karachi would now pay Rs79,000, with taxes excluded, while those from other locations would pay Rs 87,000.

The purpose of this action is to assist Pakistani pilgrims who are struggling financially. As a result, PIA anticipates an increase in travellers and income.

The announcement of the Hajj Policy for 2024 has been delayed, as efforts are underway to lower the Hajj package costs. The government is also offering a more flexible 20 to 25-day Hajj package this year to accommodate a wider range of pilgrims.

While there were unofficial reports that this year’s Hajj pilgrimage cost would be slightly above Rs. 1 million, the government plans to retain the Sponsorship scheme, eliminating the need for balloting.

Saudi Arabia is committed to enhancing facilities and services for Pakistani pilgrims during Hajj 2024.

The idea of cutting the number of Pakistani Hajj Group Organisers (HGOs) from 905 to only 46 has been discussed. There are still talks going on, but it's not guaranteed that the Saudi government would reverse course.

The Guests of God Service Programme in Saudi Arabia includes the "Road to Makkah" project, which is already operational at the airports in Lahore and Karachi and may soon expand to Peshawar and Quetta. By offering assistance to Hajj pilgrims in their home nations, this programme facilitates their travel to Makkah and Madina.
